We're taking a different approach in 2020
/Chris and I have always worked well together; starting in 2018, we saw rand&rand as an opportunity to continue. We each have a background in writing, but we each bring our own skills to the table. With rand&rand, we wanted to combine our skillsets to provide more extensive services to clients than we could offer as individual freelancers.
We’ve exchanged a lot of knowledge and ideas over the years to help each other improve. For example, Chris has a knack for building exceptional relationships with clients, and I’ve always been attentive to deadlines and fast turnarounds on projects. I’ve taught Chris a lot about SEO and managing a website, and Chris has helped me better manage multiple writing projects of different types simultaneously.
Now, our creation is evolving into something different, all on its own. In 2020, we’re taking rand&rand in a new direction.
Reimagining Our Partnership
Our original idea was to create a business with low overhead that would support high-quality research and custom content at competitive rates. Primarily, we wanted to help small and medium-sized B2B businesses generate their own proprietary survey data, which has historically only been accessible to large companies with equally large marketing budgets.
We would then use that data to create white papers and other content assets for our clients. From our experience, we know that gated custom research reports generate a lot of value for B2B businesses.
What we’ve done instead is expanded our individual work to the point that we are each self-sustaining. In addition, we’ve partnered more extensively on various content projects for each of our clients. Most of those projects aren’t the types we set out to do with rand&rand, but who are we to complain? We’re here to serve, and we’ll do what the market demands.
Offering a More Extensive List of Services
Now, we’re offering a full list of content assets, including blog posts, success stories, press releases, and more. Our intention is to present ourselves less as a small company and more as what we really are: two partners who can provide comprehensive writing services to business clients.
Along this line, we’re also going to prioritize strategic partnerships. Chris and I very rarely work on an ad hoc basis. We build long-term relationships with our clients, so we’re the perfect team for your long-term content objectives. Since we’re each doing this individually, working together in strategic capacities (formerly or informally) only makes sense.
Moving in a New Creative Direction
Breaking away from our previous niche also opens a new world of creative possibilities. In studying our analytics, we’ve realized that our website visitors almost always arrive through articles that have broad cultural or intellectual appeal. Chris and I are planning on some new marketing efforts for rand&rand as well. We have a video in the works that we’re excited to share, and we’ve been considering doing more videos in the future.
Individually, Chris and I have always been about finding solutions for our clients. Our partnership has made this easier and opened new creative channels, without adding overhead or unwanted costs to our clients. As we join our peers in exploring the world of work in the new decade, it’s nuanced solutions like these that we believe will create the competitive advantages growing businesses look for in the future. We hope you’ll consider making us a part of your creative efforts.
Happy New Year!
